Hong Kong racing returns to Happy Valley tonight with 8 races in perfect weather.

The “C” Course will be in use and there are plenty of talented runners set to hit the track.

Jimmy Ting was set to bring three horses to race, but all have been withdrawn due to inadvertent treatment.

The other local trainers however, like Pierre Ng and Francis Lui, are in-form and can carry the flag with their key chances.

Caspar Fownes and John Size won't want to let them get it all their own way, so the Trainer Challenge looks quite wide open tonight.

 

 

Happy Valley Race 4 #6 Nicconi County $8.50

After suffering from some setbacks at the end of last season, Nicconi County resumed from a 8-month spell over the 1000m dash at Sha Tin.

He ran an impressive 5th and looked to have plenty of improvement to come.

He broke from gate 2 on that occasion and did not find a good position in running, but he still chased well to be in the finish close.

This Caspar Fownes-trained 5YO moves to Happy Valley this time, where he has scored 2 wins earlier in his career.

Gate 1 is ideal for him to land midfield and save all the ground along the rail.

Vincent Ho has won on him before and hopefully it's another winning combination.

 

Happy Valley Race 8 #5 Raging Blizzard $2.40

Raging Blizzard is an unexposed 4YO trained by John Size.

He has only had the four starts at Sha tin for 2 wins and 2 placings.

The formlines from his previous runs have also been great, beaten by Galaxy Patch before getting past the up-and-coming Gorgeous Win.

He will jump from gate 3 tonight and this low draw will make it easier to handle the sharp track.

This is important as he has had no barrier trial at Happy Valley leading into this event.

Karis Teetan retains the ride and will be hoping to make it back-to-back victories aboard this mount.
