Another Saturday is set for thrilling racing, featuring a couple of standout best bets.
Typically I seek value and include at least one selection priced at over $5.00, but this week both bets have come up at ridiculous odds.
The upcoming meeting at Flemington is challenging, and I'm anticipating many of the favourites to fall flat.
These two picks at a price will give us something to cheer about and fill our pockets big time if they salute.
Flemington Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets
Cody Lane continues to find value amongst his best bets.
Flemington Race 3 #3 The Shaper $8.00
Quite stumped how this 3yo son of Street Boss is not shorter in the market, but certainly not complaining!
The horse has been in excellent form this preparation, consistently finishing in the quinella at his first four starts before finishing 6th at this track at his most recent race.
While his last start may look like a step back in the form guide, the run was full of merit.
He still recorded the 2nd fastest last 200m to finish off the race just behind the podium getters.
The rise in distance to the 1600m looks ideal and he draws the inside barrier which will give him a very cosy run.
He will be hitting the line strongly late and be hard to hold out from winning if he gets the breaks.
Flemington Race 6 #10 Political Debate $6.50
This 4YO son of So You Think has had a better preparation than his record suggests and is a big chance of getting a win on the board for this campaign here.
His last two runs at this distance have been terrific.
His last start 6th at Randwick was a complete forgive where he got 14th lengths off the leader, in a race dominated by those up on pace.
He still rattled home and arguably with a better ride would have finished closer.
Prior to that he was superb when running 2nd to the handy ‘Fawkner Park’ in the Wagga Cup.
He will appreciate the big track of Flemington and the wide draw is of no harm considering he will snag to the rear anyway.
Gets in really well at the weights (53.5kg) because of the rise in class and has the fitness edge over his key rivals here.
I'm confident he will be finishing off strongly to be in the finish at a cracking price.
