Feature Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets for Eagle Farm 4/5/24

$21 Roughie's Defining Moment

Let's try to forgive and forget last week's racing in QLD, with a tough day at Eagle Farm due to harsh track conditions.
With a firming track we officially launch the QLD winter carnival this Saturday, headlined by two group 2's in the Queensland Guineas and the Victory Stakes.
Many amazing horses make their returns, including Uncommon James and Antino.
Much has been said about the Sydney and Melbourne form lines as runners head north for the carnival, but can they live up to the hype.
On the flip side, the gutsy Queenslanders will be hoping their hometown heroes defend their turf.
QLD analyst John Steinmetz breaks down the three feature races, finding an “easy” roughie in the last.

Eagle Farm Best Bets & Tips from John Steinmetz
Race 6 #4 Pareto $8.50/$2.50
It was a great debut performance from Pareto who led from barrier to box at the Sunshine Coast.
Considering that was also on a Heavy 8 track, he is sure to appreciate the firmer track this time around.
He remains at the same distance here and while this field is a lot tougher, showed that he had plenty of progression to come.
Race favourite Embassy will be giving him fitness and that could be the difference in the end.
Pareto draws well and gets an inform Kyle Wilson-Taylor in the saddle.
A stakes win like this will bolster his credentials for races like the BRC Sires Produce.
Race 8 #1 Uncommon James $2.60
Group one winner Uncommon James returned in March with a brave 5th at Rosehill.
There was plenty of merit in that run and a similar effort here will see be awfully hard to beat.
With a 75% strike rate second up, he looks primed for a big run to kickstart a long QLD Carnival.
With him also being undefeated at Eagle Farm this strikes me as a no-brainer bet.
Race 9 #16 Easy Dun $21.00/$4.60
Who doesn’t love a roughie?
Easy Dun is a star in the making and easily one of my favourite horses to watch.
However, this is a defining moment.
His get back style of racing has cost him at his last two starts, but this should be offset rising to 1600m.
When rewatching his last start, he was still at the rear with 400m left to go and ran down 8 other runners to take out 9th by only 4 lengths.
I think he will look for a better spot in running, and with added fitness, hopefully run them out of the park.
