Blue Diamond Stakes Day takes centre stage in Melbourne today, with a nine race card giving punters plenty to get excited about

Outside of the feature 2YO event, the Oakleigh Plate and Futurity Stakes give gun gallopers a shot at Group 1 glory.

The weather is fine, the track is rated a Good 4 and the rail is in out 3m for the entire circuit.

It's going to be a great day of racing.

 

Deane Lester's Best Bet at Cauldield

Deano's best play for the meeting comes in Race 4, a Group 2 event over 1400m.

 

His tip is #4 Argentia

This gun filly from the Freedman yard comes off a win at this track when first up.

She got well back in that race and motored home to win.

Deane doesn't expect that to be that the cast today, as she's drawn to do no work and the tempo in the race will ensure she'll settle more forward.

She rates highly and Mark Zahra retaining the ride which adds further confidence.
