David Gately Early CAULFIELD CUP Preview

 

• WITHOUT A FIGHT - Struggled in Melb Cup on wet but showed his true colours in Oz since on dry with two excellent wins in Qld, in one of those he easily beat Nonconformist who boasts an terrific 2nd in this race to Incentivise in 2021. Dry ground a key. 
  
  
• WEST WIND BLOWS - Safely held third to wold-class Paddington latest but did beat Dubai Honour home (that horse was brilliant winner in Sydney in Autumn beating Anamoe) 
  
  
• DEAUVILLE LEGEND - Ran well Melb Cup last year at 3200m. May well be better suited 2400m on drier this year…? Has had two runs since last year’s Cup at home and unplaced but has had excuses in both. 
  
  
• FRANCESCO GUARDI - Early top-pick for Melb Cup but can certainly run very, very well in this leading in if they go this way (and risk penalty) 
  
  
• KOVALICA - New season 4yo who measured right up against older horses in Qld (and those horses have form around many key Caul Cup hopes) before winning the Qld Derby like a good horse! By all reports has come on further since then… (early reports are they may target Epsom and shorter trips - standing by on him)
