David Gately Horse Racing Tips for Scone 17/5/25

Sydney racing heads to Scone this Saturday with the track rated in the soft range.

There’s a medium chance of showers leading into and on race day, but only light falls are expected.

The rail moves out to 2 metres from the 800m to the 400m before returning to the true position, which should provide a fair racing surface.

Keep an eye on how the track plays during Friday’s meeting for any pattern clues.

Bet of the Day – Race 4 #5 – Oh Diamond Lil

This talented mare resumes and has been trialling brilliantly ahead of her return.

She was narrowly beaten fresh last preparation by the smart Raikkonen before recording two very strong wins, including a victory over the talented Pocketing.

Fresh and firing, she looks hard to hold out here.

 

Best Value Bet – Race 1 #6 – General Soho

General Soho won impressively last start with 61kg on his back, defeating a rival who had just beaten the promising Jumeirah Beach.

He boasts an excellent record at Scone, winning three of his four starts at the track, and looks a massive price at around $15.

Expect him to give a big sight at generous odds.
