Randwick plays host to Sydney Saturday metropolitan racing this week, with a tricky winter program taking place on a dry track and the surface expected to be in the Good/Soft range.

The rail is out 3m and at the last meeting here, the rail was True with wet conditions which meant the inside was a no-go zone.

Best Bet – Race 8 #1 Raikkonen $3.70

It was a lovely return to the track for the Bjorn Baker gelding at Gosford, when he justified the favourite tag by winning despite his jockey dropping the whip in the concluding stages. 

He then went to Doomben and stepped up to Group 3 grade at set-weights, where he put in a huge run after being wide throughout to finish 1 length back in 4th.

Despite the fact he draws wide and carries big weight for this assignment, he's happily on top for me here.

Best Roughie – Race 7 #8 Power Of The Brave $14.00

Went hard in his latest outing at Rosehill, and was only run over late at 1100m.

He held on well in his prior race over 1000m at Wyong and meets the favourite for this clash, Storm The Ramparts, 6.5kg better from that race.

Good roughie at $14.
