Saturday’s racing returns to Flemington, where the rail is out 3 metres and the track is rated a Soft 5, with no bias detected at the corresponding meeting two weeks ago.

Expect them to edge off the inside in the straight races but not get too wide, while turning events should play evenly depending on tempo.

David Gately has identified a strong each-way play early on the card and is extremely confident about his Best Bet, who brings the best form lines and a handy weight swing into a key staying contest.

BET OF THE DAY

Race 7 No.14 – Muktamil

Muktamil looks beautifully placed here after beating Bold Soul two starts ago and then charging late to just miss the same rival in the Banjo Paterson Series Final.

That form has stood up, and he gets a 5kg weight swing on Bold Soul this time around.

With Craig Williams taking the reins and the horse continuing to improve through the prep, he ticks all the boxes to turn the tables and land the prize.

BEST EACH-WAY

Race 3 No.6 – All Business

Progressive gelding who was strong two back when splitting two smart ones at Sandown Hillside, then backed that up with a dominant win at Lakeside despite the tempo being against him.

His closing splits suggest he’s well above midweek grade, and with further improvement to come, he’s a serious player again on the bigger track at Flemington.

Over the odds and one to follow this prep.
