Caulfield Tips Speed Maps Specials 12 May 2018

Caulfield is currently rated a Soft 5 however with more rain predicted, suspect the surface could throw up anything this week with winners to come from on and off the speed. A close watch is advised early for any perceived bias.

This week's selections allow for both on and off speed favours. Bet accordingly.

 

Race 7 #8 Inn Keeper

Is flying of late and was heavily backed last start where he simply brained them in a hot race over the competitive Warrnambool Cup Carnival. He jumped and sat outside the leader last start before kicking clear. No reason why he can't repeat that here from gate 9, where he will have the added option of slotting in behind the leaders.  

He is one where the SP profile screams that he's showing plenty behind closed doors in trackwork. Last start he was $8.00 into $6.00 very late in betting at “The Bool” and the start prior was $7.50 into $6.00 in the last few minutes. Suspect he finds the leader's back, peels and brains them. Another late move in betting would add plenty of confidence.

Race 9 #1 Hursley

Maps beautifully to get the gun run in the last where there will be plenty of speed up front from the likes of Survived, Sunday Pray and Hazard Ahead. That trio along with a few others could go warp speed, setting it up nicely for the run on profile of Hursley. Loved the run last start where he got back midfield and rattled home to hit the front a fraction too early when running second. This is his best distance and being third-up, he will be peaking to go one better.

When Waller has one in Melbourne for a very high profile Middle Eastern owner it always pays to take note. The stable would have had this mapped out for months and this is the run he will be expected to win. Slightly easy in early betting and a close watch is advised for any late market move, which would give heightened confidence.
