Caulfield Tips and Best Bets for Saturday 10/2/24

The first Group 1 race day of the Autumn takes place at Caulfield this Saturday, with the $750,000 C.F Orr Stakes over 1400m the feature event.

Multiple Group 1 winning superstar ‘Mr Brightside’ makes his return to racing as a $1.80 favourite.

The meeting also plays host to two Blue Diamond Preludes with one for the Colts and Geldings and the other for the Fillies.

The Group 2 Rubiton Stakes sees the smart speedster ‘Asfoora’ resume and the Henry Dwyer trained mare is currently a $2.25 favourite to extend on her impressive first-up record.

The track is currently rated as a Good 4 and with fine weather forecasted, that will not change come Saturday.

The running rail is back in the True position, after being out 9m last Saturday, and this should see the track play evenly.

With 10 races in this program, there are plenty of betting prospects.

Caulfield Race 6 #3 Bodyguard $3.20

Extremely impressive debut win in the Maribyrnong Trial at Flemington in October and makes his return here.

The 2yo I Am Invincible Colt has had two impressive trials at Canterbury and Randwick leading into this first-up run and hit the line strongly in each.

They will get along at a solid pace here and will set it up nicely for this 2yo Colt from the Peter and Paul Snowden stable.

Got him winning the Blue Diamond Stakes in two weeks and suspect he will win here as well.

 

Caulfield Race 10 #1 Ulanova $23.00

This is the best bet of the day.

How this former New Zealand Group 1 winner is $23 is beyond me and is a massive chance of causing a blow-out at this big price.

She was heavily backed in her debut run here in Australia at this track, in a very strong race won by Charm Stone.

While she has yet to perform in Australia, the market respect she has recieved in her two runs and the way she looks to have returned from a spell this time around, are reasons to have some confidence of a big first-up performance here.

She has won both of her jump outs leading in at Mornington and Flemington.

Beating arguably the World’s best sprinter in ‘Imperatriz’ and handy types ‘Makram’ and ‘Barbie’s Fox’.

Is drawn perfectly in barrier 4 and is a big chance at the massive odds.
