Brad Davidson tips and free best bets for Randwick and Flemington 9/3/2024

It's the eve of a blockbuster Saturday with some of Australia's finest thoroughbreds contesting the biggest races on the racing calendar.

Randwick Race 8 - Randwick Guineas

Brad sees the Guineas as a race in two between Militarize and Celestial Legend.

Militarize draws ideally with James McDonald aboard and he did get past a subsequent Group 1 winner first up in Think It Over. The mile obviously suits.

Celestial Legend was outstanding in the traditional lead up race and looks a horse that will appreciate the 1600m as well. The awkward draw is the query for him and I just don‘t know where he will get to in the running.

 

 

Flemington Race 5 - Newmarket Handicap

 

Brad sees this race as a fascinating edition of the Newmarket. Imperatriz got the job done fresh but is she going as well as the spring? She certainly needs to be to win this race and I think she is very short at $2.60 with the big weight.

Buenos Noches looks the bet here and he meets Imperatriz 4.5kg better off for a half length margin at this track and distance last spring when I feel the mare was going better. His first up run was fine after being set an impossible task and he jumped out super with the blinkers on.

Sghirripa was a forgive run at Caulfield last start and back to 1200m suits down the straight.
