Brad Davidson Tips and Best Bets on SKY Racing's BSB Vic Derby 2023

On the eve of a huge week in horse racing the SKY Racing BSB team spoke to Brad Davidson to get his tips for Golden Eagle Day at Rosehill and of course Victoria Derby Day at Flemington.

As always Brad Davidson gave punters his tips and best bets along with the reasoning behind them on air. Here are some of his thoughts.

Rosehill Race 8 - Golden Eagle

Davidson started by assessing the challenge ahead for the International horses in the race considering the pressure that will be on and given the track peculiarities at Rosehill: "...it's never easy" Davo said. Because of this he has his doubts on how they will handle the race, despite their strong form lines.

Brad's tipping the West Australian star mare Amelia's Jewel after forgiving her last start where she underwhelmed a lot of her supporters. Brad noted her recent track work which had given him confidence to back her in the big 1500m contest.

He's next pick in the race is Hawaii Five Oh. "They're my two picks" Davo said.

 

Rosehill Best Bet

Brad's best bet of the day comes in Race Two at Rosehill and it's the favourite Nails Murphy. Davo was impressed with it's first-up run in Australia and likes it around the $4 mark.

 

Flemington Race 6 - Coolmore Stud Stakes

Davidson's opening remarks suggested it wasn't an easy task for him to settle on a winner. He was impressed with the Everest run from Cylinder and sees it as a perfect launch pad for this race.

Coming from the Godolphin stable Davo suggested there's no doubt they will be throwing everything at it to get their stallion credentials flying high.

 

 

Flemington Race 7 - Victoria Derby 

Brad addressed the Rif Rocket knockers suggesting the horse's lead-up race was slowly run which impacted his winning chances. Davo loves his late sectionals which puts him right in the race against a low-quality Vic Derby field in his opinion.

 

Flemington Race 9 - Empire Rose Stakes

Davo has picked one showing some value in this race. Team Hawkes also went on air warning punters not to disregard it from their chances in the race.

Davo noted how hard she hit the line second-up and has a great third-up profile against Group level quality horses. Brad thinks More Secrets is worth something at the $20 quote.

 

Melbourne Cup

Davo was asked about the chances of Right You Are in the Cup and he replied that it would need to improve somewhat from recent racing. On a positive side he noted that it is a tough horse which is what you need to win a Melbourne Cup.
