Brad Davidson – Wednesday Best Bets 29/7/26

Sandown – Race 7 – #14 Here's Matilda

Here's Matilda couldn't have been more impressive on debut, producing the fastest closing sectionals of the day on her way to victory.

That performance suggested she has plenty of upside, and the rise to 1400 metres looks a natural progression.

Her pedigree also points to the extra distance being a major advantage, with her dam related to Melbourne Cup winner Cross Counter.

With further improvement expected second-up, Davidson believes she's well placed to remain unbeaten.

Eagle Farm – Race 2 – #8 Exceed The Sale

Exceed The Sale made an encouraging debut, finishing off strongly to suggest a win isn't far away.

She now gets several key positives, including a step up in distance, a much kinder barrier draw and the benefit of an apprentice claim.

Those factors should allow her to settle closer in the run while conserving energy for the finish.

With natural improvement from her first race experience, Davidson expects her to be very hard to beat.
