The early money has once again provided an excellent insight into how several horses may be progressing at home.

At Sandown the shrewd McEvoy yard look to have a good one, who did have genuine excuses last start and can improve further.

Whilst at Randwick the Hayes boys are sending one north for a Sydney raid, which must be respected given their recent success traveling their horses.

Sandown Tips

Sandown

Jenni’s Meadow

Looks an above average 2yo who arrives here for the gun Maher stable and blessed owner, who can do no wrong!

She won on debut at Moonee Valley last preparation then was sent straight to the Magic Millions Classic in January on the Gold Coast.

She got well back in the field and was never a hope, while being unsuited by the tight turning track.

This appears an ideal place to start the campaign this time in, where she should have a good experience at Sandown and be suited by the gentle 1000m set up.

Elphinstine

Is from the shrewd McEvoy yard who know how to find a good horse and look to have a quality filly here.

She had excuses at Caulfield last start (3 of 10) when crowded for room, yet still worked home well enough to suggest she is right for this.

There appears to be good speed engaged in this field (Hello Mary/Floozie) and this will allow her to get back as per her natural pattern, before hitting the line hard over the final 200m.

Hard To Cross

The market knew he was going very well last start when crunching this runner in betting late ($4.40 into $3.50) before he won with ease.

This race is harder, however he does look progressive and given the breeze up run last start he arrives with an ideal preparation.

The apprentice 3kg claim looks crucial here where he is very well suited at the weights!

Junipal

Has a massive turn of foot on his day and should find an ideal position midfield with cover here, to unleash hell over the top late.

He was excellent first-up at Warrnambool when he just felt it late from a fitness angle, yet still managed to rattle home and place a close up 3rd of 11.

With natural improvement from last start he will be able to maintain the sprint for longer on this occasion, and should be winning.

Randwick Tips

Randwick

Sumo Star

Has good tactical speed and from the low draw the market is expecting him to position on or close to speed.

This should mean he is very hard to run past.

This race appears to lack depth and with the favourite vulnerable following the first-up sting, he can take advantage and still represents good value at the current price.

In a small field that looks to lack genuine pace he can give a good kick off the front and should be very hard to run past.

Tanglewood

Looks an above average animal following two great runs to kick off this preparation, where at his latest he appeared very strong though the line to win at Newcastle.

He can handle a variety of racing surfaces and with the shifting ground at this time of year you can bet with confidence he will still be suited.

J Parr sticks and should know he’s on a very good one who can go right on with it to win again.

Wild Botanica

Must be showing Joseph Pride something at home to warrant the early support.

It is likely this mare has put in a number of impressive track gallops at Warwick Farm.

She did enough last preparation to confirm she is right up to metro grade, with the current off season Winter classes also strongly in her favour.

She will be forward enough for the first-up assignment and a further move in betting would not surprise.

Jabbawockeez

Interesting Sydney runner for Team Hayes who head north with this  in what appears to be shrewd placement, finding a weak off season race.

He was well supported late ($5.2 into $4) at Warrnambool last start before storming home from well off them to get up and win on the line.

Trust the boys know what they are doing here, where they have had plenty of success with Sydney raids in recent times!
