Betting Tips: Early Market Movers at Rosehill & Caulfield 29/8/26

This week we have both major venues covered, with the significant early betting action outlined below in a key market guide for punters.

At Caulfield, the Moody/Coleman camp have a runner that represents healthy motivational alignment between the stable and their good friends at a major syndication company.

Whilst at Rosehill, similar motivation exists between the Waller camp and powerful ownership group Yulong, whereby Chris will be desperate to impress in the hope of securing more high-quality stock from this particular group.

 

 

 

Davida

The Danny O’Brien camp are simply flying and the market has cottoned right on here with this runner, who looks impeccably placed by the yard again.

She was excellent here last start, albeit on the Heath circuit, where she did it tough after racing wide at stages but was still too good, fighting them off late to win.

Rock-hard fit now and from the middle draw in gate 7, I expect they can be even more aggressive early and have her right on top of the speed. From there, she should again be one of the strongest late.

 

Amleto

Drops back from 2000m to 1800m here, which could make all the difference.

He comes out of a genuinely fast-run race where he led last start and was forced to absorb plenty of pressure, which should have him primed from a fitness perspective.

Although drawn out in gate 11, I would still expect them to rush forward and attempt to take control. With young gun Jabez in flying form, his confidence will be sky-high and that is exactly the style of rider you want aboard this horse when out and rolling up front!

 

Gold Medallist

The Moody/Coleman camp have deep ties with this syndicator and, with the early money arriving, there is every chance the ownership group has been given the green light.

She started favourite at $2.60 here at the end of last preparation and ran well to finish second despite encountering traffic issues at crucial stages. With a cleaner passage, she arguably could have won.

Her first-up record is strong and the early flow of money suggests the yard has her very forward in condition for this return.

 

Recommendation

The stable have held a high opinion of him throughout this preparation and continue to back him up in strong Saturday company.

He finished third of 11 in the Regal Roller last start, where Blake Shinn had his first look at the horse and should have learnt plenty about how best to ride him.

His recent form has been rock solid and he is now deep enough into the preparation to be at peak fitness. With Shinn getting another opportunity aboard, this looks like it could finally be his race.

 

 

Proxima Dea

The David Payne stable love a bet and got plenty out of this runner at Gosford last start when she was crunched from $1.90 into $1.60 before duly saluting and maintaining her unbeaten record.

This is clearly a tougher assignment, but she won on debut in metropolitan grade and looks to possess plenty of upside.

The fact Payne is prepared to throw her straight in against the older horses is a strong indication of the opinion he holds of her. She must have trained on particularly well since the Gosford victory.

 

Appeared

The stable appear to be building nicely towards the Spring after a quieter period by their lofty standards, potentially keeping some of their better ammunition fresh for the richer races ahead.

He returned with a good win at Newcastle first-up, where the slowly run race suited at that stage of the preparation and allowed him to brush home over the top late.

He should have taken plenty of fitness from that performance and looks capable of improving significantly second-up.

 

Althoff

Produced a brilliant victory here last start over 1400m when charging through his gears and unleashing a dynamic burst inside the final 100m.

The progression to 1500m looks ideal and he appears well above average, with the profile of a horse that could develop into a serious Spring Carnival prospect for the Waller camp.

Powerful ownership group Yulong adds another layer of confidence in keeping with our trainer/owner motivational theory. Waller will be desperate to continue delivering results for one of the biggest players in the game. Yes.

 

Amazing Eagle

Was excellent first-up in a genuinely fast-run race at Randwick, where he chased a hot speed and continued to grind strongly both to and through the line.

He looks primed to improve sharply second-up, with the step to 1200m and barrier 2 both major positives.

Expect him to smoke the pipe just behind the leaders before peeling into clear running around the 300m mark. With that first-up run under his belt, he should have plenty to offer when the pressure goes on late.
