Ryan Yard knows when they have a good one

This week a number of early betting moves provide us with excellent market leads at both key venues.
At Caulfield, a popular runner returns from an SA Group 3 raid, and should be suited by the weaker off season metro class.
Whilst at Rosehill Paul Messara travels one down from his Scone base, an activity he rarely indulges in unless they are a significant chance!

Caulfield Tips
Ginger Sweet
Was slightly soft ($4 to $6) in the market at Sandown last start yet still won.
This is a great guide that the yard still had some horse to work with and more improvement to come.
Fitter now, they will have the ability to press forward from the outside draw and slot into the moving line with cover.
This may have been the target race for betting purposes all along.
Jimmy The Bear
Above average galloper who will be very well suited by the weaker off-season Saturday classes.
He was good in Group 3 grade last start at Morphettville, where he got home hard to place 2nd of 15.
He will strip much fitter for this and appears right on target for a peak run here.
Watch betting again late.
Bons To Riches
The market knew last start, when they gapped the price late ($4.50 into $2.40).
This is a move which indicates from the mounting yard that they will be leading.
With the absolute luxury of launching from gate 3, he will use this to advantage to take a forward position once again.
The money rider Matthew Cartright sticks and whilst the big fill up for the team was last time out, they are looking to top up again here.
Amberite
Last start Flemington winner who defied the market at $31, to win with ease over 1800m.
The NZ form would suggest he is now even more suited by the step up to 2000m and he could improve again.
From gate 8 the rider will look to slot in mid-field in the moving line with cover, before peeling to run home as they please.
Rosehill Tips
Rematch
Paul Messara is an under-rated trainer who knows the right horse to bring to town from his Scone base.
This appears the case here, travelling this runner who ran well last start to place 3 of 16 on the home track of Scone over 1600m.
Dropping back the 1500m for this and given the ideal draw, they will be able to ride a touch closer which should make all the difference.
Franz Josef
He was heavily backed ($2.10 into $1.70) at the mid-weeks at Kensington last start as if unbeatable, before finding one better.
The weight of money last time enlightens us to the fact this horse could be well above average, and it often pays to forgive a defeat in these cases.
The Gerald Ryan yard do know when they have a good one, and if more money arrives close to start time he will go very close to winning.
Nana’s Wish
The gun Maher yard just missed a big plunge on their Wednesday runner Grassburn, and seem to be red-hot when they back one of late.
This horse has raced well all preparation and will be rock-hard fit following plenty of recent racing.
They will take advantage of the fitness edge, and position forward enough in the run to apply pressure from a long way out.
Step Aside
If the early money arrives for a Waller runner first-up, the general rule is they must be going very well.
The yard typically gives them time and are often not there to show intent early in the campaign.
However on this occasion and particularly with the low draw, it screams they are here to win.
The two solid trial hit-outs provide enough confidence that this horse has the required fitness base.
