Australia's Best Horse Racing Tipster for 2022 revealed

2022 saw the end of the Covid bubble and wasn't it a brilliant example of the racing community coming together!

Recreational punters flocked to the races, grabbing the opportunity to party with both arms.

As for the astute experts, they were given a clean platform to rack up the cash and didn't the pros come out to play.

We've run the numbers to come up with our annual Tipsters of the Year awards.

Anyone whose tips are captured on theGreatTipOff.com are included.

The list is large, including over 1,000 punters, professional tipsters and experts from the racing media.

Speaking of the professional tipsters they really demonstrated why the bookies despise them.

Seven of the top ten best-performing tipsters for the Profit on Turnover (POT) category came from this category.

Adam Smith has been crowned Tipster of the Year, after a cracking year that saw his 133 tips yield an incredible 55% POT.

A relatively unknown tipster at the beginning of 2022, his follower count quickly grew with multiple winning months in a row.

Not only does Adam maintain a high strike rate, but his average winning price of $6.27 proves he has a sharp eye for value.

Look out for him in 2023 as he aims to go back-to-back.

 

Taking the silver medal was Axle1988.

Axle has a clear plan when tipping, sticking to the tracks he knows well in Victoria and NSW.

His focus on metro Victoria and NSW paid dividends as he landed a 34% POT and plenty of new followers in to support him in the new year.

In particular, the sharp tipster came home with a wet sail over the last 6 months, turning $100 into $10,550.

 

In third place and rounding out the podium was Damian Deguara from theGreatTipOff.com with a 22% POT.

"Damostar" enjoys a bet wherever he sees value and didn't he find some value over the year!

Damian was able to lock in 31 winners for the year with 4 of these paying in excess of $20.

This measure ranks the highest cash profit using an even stake of $100 for all tips posted in 2022. It typically rewards tipsters who make a profit from a greater number of tips.

As mentioned earlier, Tridents who came 5th in the cash profit leaderboard was the standout performer in this category and thoroughly deserves his place on the summit.

However, one tipster who also deserves a big wrap for his efforts is Alan Utterson who recorded 738 tips throughout the year.

He managed to reel in just shy of $12K cash profit from this huge output, which is extraordinary considering he tips solely in Western Australia.

These were the media stars who dazzled in 2022.

It was a Sky Racing onslaught with all 5 top places going to the powerhouse broadcaster.

It was 4 of QLD's finest leading the charge, along with an NZ specialist in David McCarthy.

A massive congratulations to Tony Wode, Jarrod Wessel, Ben Hall and Brett Moody for their outstanding efforts in 2022.

Not only did they manage to fill punters' pockets throughout the year, but attracted a new wave of fans towards their racing region up north.

 

December Tipster of the Month 2022

We closed out the racing year with some fantastic performances in December, led by punter Shadowfax.

Shadowfax recorded a 263% POT off 11 winning tips and clearly topped the leaderboard.

In second was Tridents, proving he is no flash in the pan and is a must-have in your back pocket for 2023.

Rounding out the podium was Tim Guille, who dominated Vic racing for Best Bets followers.
