Racing heads back to Morphettville Parks this weekend, with the rail out 3 metres and the track rated a Soft 6 leading into Saturday.

Typical of the winter months, the program is littered with competitive, low-profile races that look tough on paper.

However, it also presents strong betting opportunities for those willing to dig deep into tempo and map profiles.

With a track bias that traditionally favours runners on or near the pace, Heath Pope has zeroed in on several early-value selections that look primed.

Best Bets for Morphettville from Heath Pope 19/7/25

Race 1 #7 – Delightful Shecky $6.00

This honest gelding is knocking on the door for another win and won't find many better set-ups than this.

Drawn to land on-speed in a race lacking early tempo, Delightful Shecky looks poised to either lead or sit leaders-back on the fence.

Carries just the minimum weight and meets a field with no standout performers.

If he can control the race or peel out at the right time, he’s going to take serious catching.

Rated $5.00, he’s a genuine overlay in early markets.

Race 1 #8 – Starlite Valley $7.50

Starlite Valley is another honest type who thrives when allowed to roll on-speed in moderately run races.

While she doesn't win out of turn, the setup here is ideal: low draw, soft going, and a likely sit-and-sprint affair on the Parks circuit.

She’s battle-hardened and tough to get past when up front, and looks a must-include at early each-way odds.

Rated $5.50, she’s every chance to fight out the finish.

Race 2 #13 – Thunder Shoc $3.40

My best of the day comes in the least inspiring race on the program, but also the most betting-friendly.

Thunder Shoc resumes off a strong first preparation where she finished close-up behind talented horses, often from tough draws and racing without luck.

This time she maps ideally from a soft draw, resumes off a sharp trial behind the impressive Caladan, and finds a maiden that’s plain by any standard.

With natural improvement and a kinder run in transit, this filly should prove too sharp for this lot.

Rated $2.50, and I'm keen to bet up.
