Mick Gannon – Rosehill Saturday Best Bets 29/8/26

Race 8 – #6 Blue Door – $2.20

Blue Door may not be the most talented horse in the race, but she's clearly the best placed.

Her first-up performance was good considering she went into the race off just one trial, and she should take plenty of improvement from that outing.

The biggest advantage is the map. She looks to get across and control proceedings in the solo lead, giving her every opportunity to dictate the tempo before kicking for home.

From there, it's catch me if you can.

Race 10 – #2 Grand Impact – $4.00

Grand Impact gets an ideal setup third-up over 1200m.

He maps to either lead or sit outside the leader, putting him right on top of the speed, while the booking of Zac Lloyd is a genuine jockey upgrade.

On exposed class, Grand Impact has the edge on this field and there isn't an obvious progressive runner coming through the race that demands taking him on.

Favourite Amazing Eagle is racing well over 1000m, but the extra 200m creates a genuine query.

He should settle behind the leaders, and we haven't seen him over this distance since his three-year-old season, making those older form lines difficult to rely on.

At $4.00, Grand Impact is the better betting proposition.
