Mick Gannon heads to Randwick looking to oppose a few market leaders and believes race shape, fitness and track conditions create opportunities for value across the card.
With some give expected in the track and several races likely to favour horses settling in the right spots, Gannon has found one runner ready to improve sharply second-up and another proven performer who looks ideally placed fresh.

Mick Gannon – Randwick Saturday Best Bets 6/6/26
Race 2 – #12 Callistemon $8.00
Callistemon profiles as a genuine value play.
She’s already proven herself at this level having won in this grade previously over the exact track and distance, and her first-up effort suggested she’s returned in excellent order.
At the 400m she was spotting the field a significant margin before weaving through traffic and charging into the finish to get within two lengths of the winner.
The rise to the mile looks ideal second-up and importantly she now gets the opportunity to settle much closer in the run.
She handles rain-affected ground, has a strong second-up profile and if she reproduces anywhere near her best form, she looks over the odds.
Race 7 – #11 Lugh $6.50
Lugh appeals as the horse to beat fresh.
His effort in the Big Dance reads strongly with the horses around him continuing to frank the form, particularly through subsequent Group 1 winner Headley Grange.
He resumes here with an outstanding first-up profile, winning two of three fresh runs, and gets several race map advantages.
Barrier seven should allow Nash Rawiller to land in an ideal position and from there he maps to get every chance.
His overall record of five wins from nine starts highlights his consistency and competitiveness, while the likely race setup looks significantly kinder than what some key rivals face.
Gannon is happy to take on the favourite from the awkward draw and believes Lugh gets all the favours to make a winning return.
