The Little General showed plenty of determination first-up, overcoming the outside barrier to score in a Provincial Benchmark 68 despite doing plenty of work.

He gets a much kinder draw this time and, although he rises in the weights, Zac Waddick's valuable 3kg claim ensures he remains well treated.

The improved barrier should allow him to find the lead without burning too much fuel early, and if he's able to control the tempo, he'll prove extremely difficult to run down.

Race 3 – #6 Adeleke $12.00

Adeleke appeals as the value play after an encouraging debut where she attracted strong market support despite conditions not being in her favour.

She handled the heavy track well enough but is expected to improve significantly with that run under her belt and a return to a firmer surface.

Barrier three gives her the perfect opportunity to settle in the box seat behind the leaders, conserving energy before getting her chance in the straight.
