David Gately has two strong plays at Rosehill this Saturday, headed by a runner who produced an excellent first-up performance and should only improve with added fitness.

Rosehill is expected to race in the Good to Soft range, with no rain forecast and the rail out 3m. The track played fairly with the rail True last meeting, although getting away from the hard inside was important.

Gately's each-way selection also brings a strong first-up performance into Saturday and gets a significant weight advantage over a key rival.

David Gately’s Sydney Best Bets – Rosehill Saturday 29/8/26

Bet of the Day – Race 8 #6 Blue Door

Blue Door returned in excellent order first-up, showing plenty of early speed to find the lead before producing another sharp acceleration when the pressure arrived.

She was ultimately beaten by the smart Chilly Girl, but importantly the pair put a clear margin on the third horse and ran fast time in the process.

That gives Blue Door an excellent platform heading into her second-up assignment.

She should strip fitter, brings tactical speed that allows her to make her own luck and has already shown she's returned in terrific order.

Blue Door is the clear top pick and looks ready to go one better.

Best Each-Way Bet – Race 7 #6 Plagiarism

Plagiarism returned as a gelding at Rosehill and produced a very encouraging first-up performance.

Carrying 60kg, he went forward and took on the $1.65 favourite before fighting strongly all the way to the line.

That winner brings strong form through The Next Episode, giving the performance further substance.

Plagiarism should now improve with the benefit of that run and gets a significant weight turnaround against runner-up Savvy Diamond, meeting that horse 6kg better under Saturday's scale.

Fitter second-up and much better treated at the weights, Plagiarism looks a strong each-way play.
