David Gately heads to Rosehill expecting another rain-affected track, with further showers forecast likely to keep conditions in the Heavy range.

The rail remains at 6m and while on-speed runners held an advantage at the previous meeting, horses improving away from the inside lanes still performed well.

Race 6 – #9 King Pedro

King Pedro has been knocking on the door and looks ready to break through.

Second-up he stepped sharply up in distance, worked into the race earlier than ideal and still produced an excellent performance before arguably being unlucky not to win at his latest appearance.

The booking of Kerrin McEvoy is another positive, while the drop in the weights and favourable draw should allow him to enjoy a much more economical run.

The distance holds no concerns and with better luck in running, Gately expects him to be very hard to hold out.

Race 10 – #2 Hollywood Hero

Hollywood Hero shapes as one of the better value runners of the meeting.

His first-up effort was full of merit in a strong Benchmark 94, charging home from near the tail on a day where the pattern heavily favoured runners settling close to the speed.

That form has already received a significant boost through Midnight Dynamite, adding confidence to the overall strength of the race.

He's traditionally improved second-up and if he can settle a little closer despite carrying 61kg, Gately believes the current price represents genuine overs.
