It’s back to Randwick this Saturday, with the track rated a Soft 6 and light rain on the radar.

The rail shifts out to 11m (1000m–Winning Post) and last time we saw similar conditions, the inside lanes were dominant.

With 20 of 24 circle race placegetters last meeting racing “rails in run”, it could pay to look for runners drawn to take advantage of the bias early.

Gately is siding with fit, tough on-pacers and a flashing-light roughie for the late quaddie.

Race 5 #4 – OH DIAMOND LIL $2.10

Oh Diamond Lil chased hard to grab second behind It’s A Knockout two back, then stepped up to the mile and led all the way, aided by the pattern of the day.

She’s now three from three at the 1600m trip, and with the rail out and speed holding strong last time, she’s perfectly placed again.

 

Best Roughie

Race 9 #10 RANTAN $23.00

Rantan has been luckless this prep.

She was slow out and caught wide second-up, then hopelessly held up last start before launching late once the race was all but over.

She’s clearly going well and if the inside lanes soften up by the last, her powerful finish could be a major threat.

At $23, she’s the value roughie of the day.
