Metro racing heads to Caulfield this Saturday for a strong winter program featuring some sharp types and competitive handicaps.

With improving track conditions expected, look for genuine form and tactical maps to be key.

Bet of the Day – Race 6 #3 Jimmy The Bear $4.20

Jimmy The Bear returned with a cracking run here last start.

Stuck wide throughout but still charged late to finish second behind War Machine, who then blitzed them in Queensland to frank the form.

This is a horse who flies second-up and gets in well with 57kg after the claim for Tom Prebble.

From a better draw and fitter for that run, he looks ready to strike over the 1600m.

 

 

Best Roughie – Race 7 #8 Sunsets $16

Sunsets caught the eye two starts back in the Group 3 Easter Cup when brave on-speed in a race that suited backmarkers and wider lanes.

He’s had two forgive runs since, one on a bottomless track and the other against bias.

Back on a drier surface and from gate 1, he gets his chance in a field full of question marks.

At $16, he’s great value in an open 2000m contest.
