Best plays for Muswellbrook

Muswellbrook hosts a competitive seven race card on Thursday, with plenty of value up for grabs.

The track is currently rated a Soft 5 and sunshine is forecast for the upper Hunter region of NSW.

The rail is in the 6m position from the 1000m - 300m mark where the cutaway applies, which will favour those horses on-pace.

From the stewards

There are several horses who have featured heavily in the pre-steward's report for this meeting.

The one I want to mention is Seriousness, running around in race 2.

The Fast 'n' Famous colt has been his own worst enemy in his two career starts to date, having missed the jump by at least two lengths on both occasions.

Faith has been shown in the horse and his abilities, with no notable gear changes made for this assignment.

He steps up to 1500m which looks ideal and if he jumps well, he will show everyone the motor under the bonnet.

Josh has tipped 5 winners from his last 8 selections!

Below is his best bet for Muswellbrook as well as his quaddie numbers.

Muswellbrook Race 7 Tip #6 Fox Spirit $4.80

The Foxwedge mare will look to hit the ground running after a successful first preparation.

She showed signs that she had enough at Armidale last preparation, when she did a lot of work early and faded badly to finish towards the rear.

Before that effort, she had strung together three impressive performances which resulted in a win and two seconds.

She is going to love the Muswellbrook track as she reconnects with Grant Buckley, who steered the mare to her maiden victory.

Beginning the preparation at the 1000m on a dry track is ideal and she has drawn very well to make an impact.

From barrier 3, expect her to sit on-pace for a smooth run in transit.

At the 300m mark, look for her to kick away and prove hard to run down.

Race 5: 3, 6, 8, 10
