Doomben Race 6 Tip #4 Lethal Warning $3.70

This Lucas Cranach filly is bred to stay and in her two runs to date, she has demonstrated that she is screaming out for this distance.

On debut, she finished hard from midfield to win her maiden over 1400M.

Second up, she was rearward and worked home well to finish fourth over 1800M.

The Jockey for today, Jake Bayliss, will have the task of slotting her in from gate 8 in the second half of the field. This will give her every chance again to use her powerful finish.

Look for Bayliss to get a tag into the race and the Tony Gollan trained filly can outstay her rivals in the go to the line.

Randwick-Kensington Race 1 Tip #6 Starman $6.00

It seems every man and his dog are on the Edward Cummings trained 2YO filly Have Mercy in the opener at the Kenso track.

I am keen to oppose and stick with this colt, who has been flying under the radar.

Starman has had very little luck in his two trials this campaign and is now out to a very backable price.

In his first trial, he finished last but that doesn't paint an accurate picture of the race. Before the bend, he cruised into 4th under a hold only to be cornered into a pocket with nowhere to go. Rather than ride him out, James McDonald chose to let him cruise to the line.

In his latest trial, he took a midfield position only to get shuffled back in the field. He once again was strong to the line over the short distance and with one more bound, he would have finished 4th. 

From barrier 7, James McDonald will have the option to ride him more forward, landing behind the leaders who are drawn in the inside barriers.

Watch for James to make a move on the bend, putting him into the race before streaking away in the straight for a convincing win.

Randwick-Kensington Race 1 Tip #5 Naples $10.00

In what is set to be one of the last two-year-old races of the season, this Godolphin filly has gone up huge odds and looks a great gamble to start the day at Kensington.

I identified this daughter of Street Boss from her recent 800m trial at Hawkesbury, where she won stylishly under a tight hold.

The favourite in this race, Have Mercy, ran the second fastest trial of the morning both overall and last 600m. Punters should be concerned however, if she can find the front from the wide draw with an abundance of speed drawn low.

Naples is a proven fresh horse, having placed in both runs first-up including a 3rd on debut in Listed company behind Fake Love and in-front of stable mate, Anamoe.

You could argue she should have won both her starts last preparation at Gosford, as she was extremely unlucky in both runs.

Kerrin McEvoy jumps on board and from a good gate, she can sit midfield with cover. In addition, the firm track and 1100m only aids to her chances of winning.

She looks a tremendous each way bet at the double figures.

Doomben Race 6 Tip #3 Duke of Buckingham $8.50

This 3YO Gelding heads out of NSW for the first time for today's assignment.

I have been impressed with his lead up races this campaign, having won 2 of his last 3 starts. 

Trainer Matthew Dunn put him up in distance last start at Gosford amongst a competitive field, and he put in an excellent showing to finish fourth on a heavy track.

I have no doubt he will be better for the run, and I expect him to race on the speed again.

He was one of only two horses in his last run not to have run over 2000m, and still showed plenty of fight. 

He has drifted in the market to a price which is overs, despite being much more suited to these conditions. 

Barrier 8 gives jockey Michael Cahill plenty of options to attack the race and get the upper hand over his biggest danger, Galaxy Belle.

The Kris Lees trained horse will sit further back in the field and come at the Duke late.

However if Duke of Buckingham’s last few runs have showed us anything, it is that he is willing to tough it out.
