12/06/21 Saturday racing tips: Lays of the Day

No go zones

We saved the blushes of favourite backers once again last Saturday, after successfully identifying Splintex $2.70 at Eagle Farm as an excellent risk.
The highly rated Mark Newnham trained horse was comprehensively beaten.
The inside few lanes at Eagle Farm that day were certainly off, with some riders declaring them “quicksand”.
To this end, we are looking to lay the below selections based on their predicted close to rail running position.
Avoid them at their current quotes in betting.
Eagle Farm Race 3 #2 Ayrton $1.75
I'm potting the boom galloper here from the bad draw in gate 1, where I expect him to be buried and encounter traffic issues throughout.
The fence was “off” here last week and with further wear following the meeting last week, the track will likely play similar on Saturday.
This horse has been built up as a potential superstar, however he has failed to live up to the hype with the last start effort here (2 of 12) only moderate.
The J Mac booking will ensure the price is compressed and any Mick Price interview will also encourage the recreational money.
Granted this field does lack depth, however I still need to see him do it before launching into the poison $1.75. Lay.
Eagle Farm Race 6 #9 Garibaldi $3.50
I have to be against the favourite here, who jumps from gate 1 and is a big chance of being buried back along the inside throughout.
Expect the Eagle Farm track to again favour the middle to wider lanes, and exhibit a similar pattern to last week where the inside 4 lanes were “quicksand”.
Although the rail is out 4m on Saturday, I suspect the inside section to be a “no go zone” given the wear and tear over the past 2 weeks.
This runner is set to be forced to race in the inferior ground and on that factor alone, looks an excellent risk.
Look for the mid to wider draws of both Southern Lad and Away Game to be best suited. Avoid those drawn in.
