Horse racing lays for Saturday 22 June 2019

This week’s edition of Lays features a high profile runner that most mug punters will lock onto early in the day. It looks a certain inclusion in cross sport multis.

She undoubtedly looks very smart, however the price is almost sure to be “unders” considering she's now well exposed and hyped by the media. 

We have also highlighted one late in the card at Eagle Farm, who is a well known name and may suffer from his preferred get back and run-on profile. 

 

Randwick Race 1 #2 Funstar $1.65

Going to pot the gun 2yo Funstar from a pure hype angle.

She has to be the best-found horse anywhere nationwide following the ultra impressive debut win and her relation (half sister) to the smart Youngstar.

Although she was very good first up at Canterbury, the midweek form can often give us a false sense of security and she now has the signifcant challenge of Saturday Randwick grade.

The market appears compressed due to the weight of public money and the bookies will have her artificially short, due to the significant multi roll investments running through her.

If you are betting on fixed or in particular the tote pool, you will more than likely be taking unders for this runner and she's clearly one to avoid early. Lay. 

 

Eagle Farm Race 9 #3 Brave Song $3.70 

Has come up a false favourite here against some well accomplished older horses.

He will launch from the inside gate and is likely to be buried back along the inside for most of the trip. I feel he will need plenty of luck to pick his way through the field from this well back position. 

The Moreton Cup run last start was good, however this race appears to have much more depth with a number of seasoned Group performers engaged. 

I’m happy to bet around at the price and expect a significant market drift out beyond $4.00 as we approach start time. 

Expect the pro money to come late for both Isaurian and Victorem. 

Avoid the current favourite at all costs Lay.
