Devonport Race 1 Tip #11 Sharma Rama $1.85
The Adam Trinder trained three-year-old filly will be attempting to break through for her maiden win in her third career start, after finishing second best in her first two attempts.
Last start at Hobart, she settled on-pace and led by four lengths at the 100m mark but was narrowly defeated.
I have no doubt she will strip fitter for this clash, and the 1009m distance on her home track should suit her perfectly.
From barrier 10, I’m predicting jockey Anthony Darmanin to take her straight to the lead and if she gets the race ran on her terms, she’ll prove too hard to catch.
Devonport Race 6 Tip #1 Newhart $2.45
The Leanne Gaffney trained five-year-old gelding looks to be the one to beat in the feature race of the day.
He bolted home to score a narrow victory first-up over 1400m at Launceston. It was an impressive performance given it was his first race since winning the Devonport Cup in January.
He will strip fitter for this clash and he returns to his favourite track, where he rarely runs a bad race (8:4:3:0).
From barrier 1, look for jockey Ismail Toker to settle him midfield before telling the gelding to go down the straight, giving him every possible chance to run over the top.
