4/07/21 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets for Hong Kong

This is the second last Sha Tin meeting for this Hong Kong racing season, with 10 races ahead.

We'll see 3 run on the all weather track and 7 on the turf 'C+3' course.

The weather will be nice on Sunday in Hong Kong, with the turf ground likely to be good to firm.

Local jockeys had good results at the last meeting, resulting in Derek Leung having 10 mounts today. His best chance comes in Race 8 aboard Like That. This galloper is a son of Akeed Mofeed who has produced successful dirt track runners, so this horse should perform well on this surface.

Trainer John Size will send 9 horses around today, with Toronado Phantom in Race 1 and Dashing Fit in Race 5 both seeking back-to-back wins.

 

 

Sha Tin Race 1 Tip #2 Toronado Phantom $2.35

This son of Toronado won on debut last start in a griffin race over 1200m. He showed a tremendous turn of foot beating Turbo Power by 1L.

After that victory, he had a nice rest before heading to the barrier trials in June, he's since improved steadily.

Although he has to carry 60.5kg today, his two nearest rivals California Spangle and Turbo Power are also carrying top weight.

Blake Shinn takes the ride and jumping from gate 4 is ideal. I think he'll be winning again today.

 

Sha Tin Race 6 Tip #8 Free Foal $6.00

Free Foal scored his first win in Hong Kong on 23 May over the same course and distance.

Last time he performed well over 1400m, he stayed in front and finished 3rd in spite of fast pace.

Up to a mile again this time, he is expected to be hard to beat over this winning trip.

In this race, Shanghai Dragon from gate 1 is the only expected leader, so Free Foal can push forward from gate 13 and looks likely to get a nice run in transit.

With Zac Purton on board, he is a top chance today.
