Horse racing heads back down the Hume Highway for a seven-race card at Albury on Monday.

Winter is really starting to kick into gear and you can expect temperatures to dip into the low teens throughout the day.

The track is rated a Heavy 8 and there is little chance of an upgrade.

The rail is out 6m for the entire track and horses that have the heavy track experience will thrive.

Albury Race 2 Tip #1 Royal Fighter $1.90

Trevor Sutherland saddles up a truck load of horses yet again today and this gelding looks his best of the day.

He's come off two second placings and finds a weak maiden here.

After the whole country was on his back two starts ago, I'm finding the courage to butter up again. His last effort at this track was decent, when he finished behind Petaluma who we'll see line up on Saturday at Randwick in a Highway.

Expect the tempo in this clash to be hot early, with a few horses set to push forward in search of the lead.

From the wide barrier, look for young gun Tyler Schiller to drag back to the rear and fly late.

Look for him to break his maiden status in style.

Albury Race 6 Tip #5 Funky Farm $9.50

Locally trained Funky Farm lines up for his fourth run this prep here.

He's been so consistent this time in and trainer Rob Wellington has found a suitable race for him to be winning.

From a wide barrier, look for jockey Amanda Masters to work forward early to sit outside the leader.

Out to the 1400m should see him get a nice breather, before winding up at about the 800m mark.

This Star Witness gelding doesn't like to let horses get past him and will be up for a fight!

He has a great record on a heavy deck and looks a great each-way play at the current price.
