Early oil for Memsie Stakes Day

Caulfield plays host to the first Group 1 of the Victorian season, with the Memsie Stakes over 1400m set to be decided amongst a card of top level racing.
Our free best bets covers the feature race, as well as an event earlier in the day.
The track is currently rated a Soft 5 and with fine weather predicted, participants will be met with a drying racing surface.
The rail is true the entire circuit, at this set-up, the track should play fairly although it does always tend to be an advantage settling midfield or above.
Caulfield Tips from TheMelbourneMail
Caulfield Race 3 Tip #7 Turaath $2.20
I'm extremely keen on Turaath here, who simply only needs to produce a repeat of her last start win to be bolting in here again.
It was an unreal domination job at Flemington over this distance last time out, putting her rivals away by close to 4L eased down.
She carried 54kg in the mare's BM84 and after settling up on speed, she gave a big kick to win and beat Aidensfield, Lindhout who are no slouches.
She remains at the 54kg, in technically harder grade BM90. But it looks an extremely winnable race and the other key chances lack race fitness and the class of this horse.
Her last start win rating was so high, that almost every horse in this race would need to produce a new career peak rating to beat her if she was to reproduce that effort.
I can't see any reason why she won't repeat the performance either.
She will be up on-speed in the small field with a light weight and should have no problem handling the Caulfield 1400m circuit.
I'm unsure how deep she will be able to go into the Spring, but this looks like a perfect chance to pick up another good win on a big day of racing.
Caulfield Race 8 Tip #2 Behemoth $4.20
The first Group 1 of the new Victorian racing season and as per usual, a cracking field has assembled for the Memsie Stakes over 1400m.
Previous winners of this race include Humidor, Vega Magic, Makybe Diva, So You Think, and Behemoth last year proving it takes a very good horse to win.
Speaking of Behemoth, I like him to go back-to-back in 2021 and win again.
His campaign this time around is a mirror of how he did it last prep, coming off a high rating win in the Group 3 Spring Stakes in Adelaide first-up.
He spotted the leader a few lengths off a very slow tempo in the clash, and picked himself up to accelerate, sprint and win (on protest) over Beau Rossa.
He would've won by more if it wasn't for some interference close to the line by the aforementioned horse, but it was a very good return to racing nonetheless.
His win rating last start was the exact same as it was in 2020, and it reads perfectly for him to step up again and take this out.
He maps for a lovely run midfield with cover, with the ability to come wide on the turn and get into open space which he will appreciate.
The other runners in this race would have to produce substantial career peak ratings to beat him, and I have him marked as a $3.30 favourite.
