Friday night racing returns to The Valley for the first time this Spring and what a cracking card of racing punters have in front of them. 

The headline race is the Moir Stakes, which sees Group One winners Nature Strip, Sunlight, Trekking and Booker clash over 1000m. 

Sparks will fly over the short circuit, which looks set-up for a back-marker to fly over the top late. 

The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail in the true position.

With this set-up, punters should expect an even racing surface with all runners given every opportunity.

The Valley Race 1 Tip #1 King Of Hastings $2.45

This promising galloper from the Anthony Freedman yard led into a strong breeze at Caulfield last start and was brave in defeat. 

Stepping down in grade from a runner up finish in a Group Three, he looks well suited dropping 1kg under the set-weights scale against weaker horses.   

He's the class runner of the field and is set to get a dream run behind some speedy gallopers.

Drawn barrier five, look for Mark Zahra to take a sit three pairs back with cover. From there he'll be able to peel 3-4 lanes wide in the home turn and fly over the top late. 

 

The Valley Race 6 Tip #1 Yucatan $4.60  

The winner of last year's Group Two Herbert Power in dynamic fashion. 

His first-up run in the Group One Makybe Diva was below his best, but he can be forgiven coming off a 312 day spell. 

He'll strip fitter for that run and will relish the rise in distance here to 2040m. 

Drawn barrier two, look for jockey Ben Melham to hold a forward position in the run, with his likely settling position to be one pair back with cover. 

From there he'll be poised to strike and if he can recapture his best form, he'll win this with a leg in the air.
