Ipswich Race 6 Tip #1 Belle’s Pluck $7.50

Belle's Pluck is one of two Lindsay Gough trained gallopers in this race and was impressive last prep when winning in BM65 Grade.

He has had two solid performances since a break, and I am expecting third up he can run a big race at a very tempting price.

At his last run he was third behind Sir Rocket who has recently won again to frank the form, and the second horse has also won since.

That is a great reference going into this assignment.

Apprentice Wendy Peel claims 3 kilos getting his weight down to 58 kilos and she is beaming with confidence after winning on Colpo Di Tamburo at Doomben last Saturday.

Peel is a hard-working jockey who is often riding at multiple venues in one day and expect her to push up front here to find a forward position.

With a positive ride near the lead, the son of Pluck can get the job here.

Canterbury Race 4 Tip #8 Rubamos $3.00

This 4YO gelding looks primed for a big return to the races.

As a 3YO he did not have the best temperament and had a bad habit of over racing.

Trainer Chris Waller tried a few different tactics in his last campaign to get him to settle and it showed in his results with a mixed bag of performances.

In his recent trial he sat much more prominent in the run, and I believe this gives him his best chance of success.

In addition, this trial was over the shorter 740m, and he settled beautifully into stride from the first bound.

Tommy Berry takes the reins and from the perfect draw of barrier 1 he should get the perfect sit behind the leaders.

He will need a bit of luck to get a split from that position at Canterbury but if Tommy can steer him through the gap expect him to steam past the front runners and kick off his campaign in style.

Bendigo Race 5 Tip #6 Ruby Street $6.00

Ruby Street looks a top chance here dropping back in grade.

This 5YO mare has contested Group 2 company in each of her previous two starts, running seventh in the Tristac Stakes behind Colette and sixth in the Gilgai Stakes behind Kementari.

Prior to that, she was a nice winner coming from last to storm over the top to beat Conceited and Ashford Street up the Flemington straight over 1100m.

I expect her to be rock-hard fit fourth-up and last preparation when she was fourth-up, she was a dominant 2.5 length winner over this distance at Pakenham.

She gets Glen Boss aboard for the ride and it is one of only two rides of the day for the champ.

His other ride is coming out of an Avoca maiden win last start and currently paying $11.

She draws well in barrier five and should be able to settle either just behind the speed or two pairs back from that gate.

Looks a terrific price and will take some beating in this.
