Hong Kong racing heads to Sha Tin today for a 10-race card, with all turf races to be held on the “A+3” course.
It has been very wet in Hong Kong of late and there may be a few showers today, but the track is still expected to be good.
John Size is now leading the trainer this season with 61 wins, he sends 8 horses to the races today, including the promising debutant Country Treasure (Race 6) and the last time winner Brilliant Way (Race 10).
Sha Tin Race 3 #1 Beauty Joy - SCR -
Beauty Joy is having a great season so far, scoring two wins and two placings at his past four starts.
His 3rd placing was forgivable last time out as did not lead, but still ran third behind the in-form Cheerful Days and Telecom Fighters.
This 5YO had an impressive barrier trial on 15th March, showing good speed to lead until the end.
He will jump from gate 6 today, if he can stay in a good position under Zac Purton, he is likely to win again.
Sha Tin Race 4 #2 Perfect Maryknoll $8.00
Perfect Maryknoll was down in Class 4 since his last start, he stayed in front of at a fast pace to finish third, showing he can be competitive in this class.
Moving to Sha Tin and stepping up to 2000m today is ideal. He has had experience over 2400m in Australia, so he'll be up to the task.
Jumping from gate 6, he is expected to find the rail behind the leaders after which will allow him to settle midfield and poised to strike.
It's interesting to see Blake Shinn taking the ride and I think Perfect Maryknoll can cause an upset here.
Sha Tin Race 5 #5 Kumasi $5.00
Zac Purton rides the galloper for the first time and I'm taking the hint.
The 4YO knows how to win from days in Australia and has been shaping towards a win at his 4 Hong Kong runs.
His last two starts have been encouraging, a never nearer 7th behind unbeaten Flying Ace from barrier 12, and a last start 5th to Gallant Express.
Gate 10 doesn't make life easy, but who better than Zac to have on your side.
Sha Tin Race 10 #2 Circuit Stellar $4.20
In Zac we trust, again, as he rides Circuit Stellar for Tony Cruz.
The Mehmas gelding, a 3 time winner in his native Ireland, has yet to win at 6 local starts, but is running consistently well.
His penultimate start saw him finish 3rd to Beauty Live. A big pull in the weights today will give him every chance of revenge.
Last time he was unlucky when running 6th to Galaxy Witness, but can improve this time from the plum draw.
