It’s a big Sunday Sha Tin meeting in Hong Kong with 2 all-weather and 8 turf races in good weather.

The highlight of the day is the G3 Celebration Cup over 1400m, star horse California Spangle will resume in this 6-horse race.

This Tony Cruz-trained gelding is a 6-time winner at Sha Tin, including the Classic Cup victory last season, he also finished second behind Golden Sixty in the G1 Champions Mile.

Coming back from Conghua, this 4YO is now stronger and is looking to claim his first group race win with Zac Purton aboard.

Sha Tin Race 1 #2 Woodfire Bro

Woodfire Bro had a good first up run two weeks ago over 1400m on the turf, although staying wide and not having a clear run in the home straight, he ran 4th behind Eternal Bloom.

This 4YO is going to make his all-weather debut today and is already proven over this distance.

Derek Leung knows this Peter Ho-trained gelding very well, he partnered the horse to win over 1600m in July.

Woodfire Bro who has good speed is expected to come across from gate 5 and sit behind the leader Our Creed, it looks a nice position for him to win the race.

 

Sha Tin Race 8 #3 Powerful Wings

The former John Gosden-trained galloper Powerful Wings settled well in Hong Kong last season with 3 placing over this course and distance.

After adding the blinkers since May, this Kingman gelding chased well consistently, showing this gear is very helpful.

As a backmarker, he is not afraid of the wide draw, especially Silvertre de Sousa just partnered him to have an impressive gallop on Thursday.

There is some speed here with Infinity Power and Beauty Champ leading, the pace is ideal for Powerful Wings to break maiden in Hong Kong.

Sha Tin Race 1 #7 Our Creed

An interesting opener on the all weather surface.

Woodfire Bro will be a popular choice following an encouraging return to action but I like the chance of Our Creed under the champ.

Zac Purton keeps faith with the selection and he gets the nod despite failing to win in 13 local starts.

Experience on the dirt is hard to find, but he did impress in a trial on the surface in the past.

 

Sha Tin Race 6 #9 Summit Cheers

A super competitive dash down the straight Sha Tin 1000m with Summit Cheers taken to score.

Angus Chung is a young apprentice going places and he teams up with David Hall.

The jockey/trainer combination scored last week with Quadruple Double and they can repeat the feat here.

The dual C&D winner has bagged gate 14, which is the golden highway down the outside rail, and he can take full advantage.

He's off a 141 day spell, but he won on debut so there is cause for optimism that he can return fully primed.
