My free best bets for today take place at Newcastle, with a competitive 8 race card ahead.
The track is rated a Good 4, whilst the rail is out 3m from the 1000m - 400m mark and 1m from from the 400m to the winning post.
At this set-up, I expect the track to play fair.
Check out my two plays below and then back the remainder of my tips via HOT Bet here.
Newcastle Race 2 #1 Slick Heels $21.00
This 4YO daughter of Wanted ran 4th on debut, before being sent for a spell.
In that first career hit-out, she missed the start and was about 3-lengths behind them after 50m, which is less than ideal over the 900m scamper.
She was allowed to find her feet and on turning for home and she would have been close to 8-lengths off the leader and eventual winner.
The mare ran the fastest last 600m in 32.65 and managed to bridge the gap to 4.14-lengths. She jumped straight into the black book after that effort, with all signs indicating she needed further.
She's had two trials in readiness for this clash, with Madi Derrick retaining the ride from her most recent work out. Most importantly she jumped with them, which is a big plus given that is the first time she has done so in the public eye.
If she can replicate that todat, don't be surprised to see her wind up late and flash down the outside. The Minervini stable love a bet so if the money comes, my confidence will increase.
Worth an each-way ticket.
Newcastle Race 3 #1 Marvelous $5.50
This son of Nicconi was strong on debut, running home well in the worst going in what turned out be an unsuitable race shape.
He then went to Gosford and ran 9 of 10 which reads poorly, but do yourself a favour and check out the replay of his last start.
From barrier 9, he was forced to sit last in the run, before making up solid ground to finish 3.15-lengths off the winner.
The tight turning Gosford track wasn't to his liking and I expect him to be far better suited on the Beaumont track. The rise in distance to 1350m is ideal, as is retaining the services of Jeff Penza.
The wide barrier is an obvious concern, but there is enough speed engaged to allow him to run on and as long as the track is playing fair, I think he'll swoop over the top and give them a galloping lesson.
Watch the first two races to ensure you can make up ground and then bet accordingly.
