We're back at Rosehill Gardens this weekend for the first time in what seems an eternity!

What a day to mark the return, with the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes highlighting a cracking 10 race card.

The weather will be perfect in the lead up, which should provide a great racing surface.

The track is currently rated a Good 4, with the rail in the true position. At this set-up, expect all runners to get their chance.

Rosehill Race 5 #3 Paulele $2.90

The Godolphin 3YO looks set to peak third-up for the listed Heritage Stakes.

He exploded on the scene with a huge first-up win, beating some very sharp 3YO’s all while carrying the big weight.

He was smashed in betting second-up and started a firm $2 favourite. They went slow in the run, but he closed off in the inferior ground with a sustained run, chasing the line hard. The last 50m was particularly eye-catching, when he surged again.

He recorded the fourth fastest last 600m of the meeting in a time of 33.48.

What makes the run even more impressive was that the leader got it all his own way running some 8 lengths slower than the average to the 600m mark.

He sets up perfect for a peak third-up run. He has drawn out, but there is an abundance of speed up front which he can sit and camp off.

I expect his explosive turn of foot to come to the forefront when the whips are cracking.

He looks like Godolphin's Everest colt, so I expect a big run Saturday.

Rosehill Race 6 #7 All Saints Eve $13.00

This mare hasn't won for a while, but she's as gutsy as they come and always gives her all.

At her 16 career starts, she's never finished further than 4.48 lengths off the winner. That margin came last start, when she was beaten by superstar Zaaki.

She was sent out a $10 chance on that occasion, so it's hard to fathom she opened at $17 for this race given she doesn't have to contend with Zaaki or Star Of The Seas.

She drops 1.5kg off that run down to 53kg and gets an in-form Rachel King.

Her first-up record is okay, but she does improve second-up with 3 of her 4 wins coming at that set-up.

Her career peak came over the 1500m at Rosehill on a dry track and if she runs up to that, watch out!

With Discharged, Soldier Of Love and Love Tap going forward, there will be enough speed to bring her into the race which will see her flying at them late.

Rosehill Race 9 Tip #9 French Emperor $8.00

This year's edition of the Gloaming Stakes is jam-packed with talent.

The field contains a number of future middle distance stars ready to make a name for themselves.

However, the media and social media buzz has all centred around the $1.9 million gelding Profondo. The market has reacted accordingly and as a result, we are getting an outrageous price for French Emperor.

First-up, the David Payne trained runner was sent out at long odds from the bookies in the same debut race at Profondo.

Profondo jumped at $3 after a late drift,  whilst French Emperor who went around as a $60 long shot.

Prices however do not always dictate performance and French Emperor was mighty impressive over a distance that did not suit.

He travelled sweetly along the rail, looking a live hope prior to the turn. However, he was held up for a run in the straight and when the gap eventually came, the race was over.

David Payne is a master of middle distance runners and he elected to give the 'Emperor' one more run at Goulburn to get his confidence up prior to this weekend's Gloaming.

Despite doing a lot wrong in the run, he managed to surge away from his opposition with ease.

Tim Clark takes the reins for this clash and from the inside draw, expect him to posy up this blooming gelding in the front running division.

He has class written all over him and if he can produce his best manners over what I believe is his ideal distance, he is a red hot chance in this stacked line up.

Look for Clark to make his move nice and early to get him in the clear.

With even luck in running, he'll give a great sight.
