We head to northwest Victoria on Monday to kick off the week, as Swan Hill hosts a competitive 9-race card.

The rail is out 2m from the 1200m-900m, out 4m from the 900m-400m and true for the remainder of the circuit.

We'll be racing on a Soft 5 surface and fine weather is predicted.

Michael nailed his best bet at Ballarat last Monday, after Heljami saluted paying $3.50!

He's identified 3-races today that represent good betting opportunities.

From the stewards

Epic Player in Race 1 jumped awkwardly from the inside draw last start at Sale and was forced to push up underneath his rivals to hold the lead.

He spent plenty of gas in the process on the Heavy surface and did well to stick on and finish in third, beaten 1.35 lengths.

Now second-up and rising in distance, he'll jump from barrier 10 today which will give him ample time to cross and find the front.

Punters should expect a bold front running effort from this gelding.

Jockey to follow

Dean Yendall rides Swan Hill better than most.

Yendall has had 43 rides here over the past year, recording 11 wins.

The hoop has 3-rides today, with his best chance coming in race 1 on Far Too Tempting.

Swan Hill Race 2 Tip #6 Miss Mitzie $7.50

This girl from the Nathan Hobson stable performed well above market expectation on debut at this track, running second as a $61 shot.

She jumped well from barrier 4, before pushing forward under her own steam to hold the rails.

Jockey Madison Lloyd then peeled off the leaders in the straight, making nice ground to finish strongly. The margin of defeat was 1.5 lengths, however she was right with the winner 100m past the post.

Her last 200m and effort through the line suggests to me that the 1300m second-up is ideal.

From barrier 2 Lloyd can either lead or take a sit and give her the run of the race, before releasing the shackles on turning for home and putting a gap in them!
