Hong Kong racing returns this afternoon for 10 turf races under nice weather condition.

The action will take place on the Sha Tin “C” course and the ground will be in good condition.

Zac Purton is having a great start to the season. He's scored 8 winners in the past 2 meetings, and now he's the leading jockey this season with 25 victories.

Purton, a four-time champion jockey of Hong Kong, has 8 mounts today including the unbeaten California Spangle and last start winner Master Montaro.

Meanwhile, Joao Moreira is fully-booked with 10 rides, featuring rising star Master Eight in Race 8.

Sha Tin Race 6 #6 Maldives $3.60

This David Hall trained 5YO will be ridden by Zac Purton today, which suits well given the horse is difficult to handle.

Maldives scored 3 wins last season, including efforts over 1650m at Happy Valley, and 1400m and 1600m at Sha Tin.

His season debut over 1400m last time out was encouraging. Despite the fact he struggled to find a good position after jumping from gate 14, he chased well and finished 5th.

Second up for this clash, expect him to improve now stepping up in distance and from the better gate.

He looks an excellent chance to claim victory.

Sha Tin Race 10 #2 Californiadeepshot $5.50

The final race of the day shapes up as an intriguing battle between the two premier riders.

Zac Purton's mount Master Montaro is seeking back-to-back wins, however Joao Moreira on top of Californiadeepshot will be very hard to beat.

The pace is expected to be slow in this clash and from barrier 6, you can expect Californiadeepshot to get a soft lead.

This Deep Field gelding won in a style in the season opener over the same course and distance, but he was beaten by Master Montaro by 4L last time out.

He had a good spell at Conghua and is now refreshed. I expect him to turn the tables on his rival here.
