But factor in a double stake for his best bets and the Victorian form expert finished up with a fat 64% POT.
Cracking stuff.
Fellow Victorian form judge Matt Welsh also put a smile on the faces of his followers.
He tipped 7 winners across Caulfield and Horsham at a sensational strike rate of 41%.
These winners saluted at a handy average price of $2.91, to drive a 20% POT.
And now with two winning days on the hop, Welsh is heading into his next meet with runs on the board.
Rounding out the podium was Get On host and racing presenter Jason Richardson.
Richo bagged 2 of his 6 tips at Caulfield on Saturday, including $4.30 shot Nonconformist.
While these winners only drove a modest 7% POT for Richo's followers, a profit is a profit.
