23/10/21 Horse Racing Tips for Mooney Valley Vase & Gold Cup

Best plays for the Group 2 clashes
AAPTagged: Horse Racing Tips, Moonee Valley
The main event on Cox Plate Day is well supported by the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase and Gold Cup.
I'm with the Danny O'Brien 3YO in the Vase whilst in the Gold Cup, I can't get away from the favourite who looks like something very special.
The late betting moves promise to be intriguing!
Track Conditions
For the latest insight into how the track is expected to play over the weekend, read our preview of the Group 1 Manikato Stakes on Friday night here.
Race 7 Moonee Valley Vase 2040m (G2 3YO, SW)
The Map
The speed looks genuine here, with Jungle Magnate (15), Sharper (8) and Samarkand (1) the most likely to take it up at an even tempo.
That being said if there is no genuine speed expected, a few of these could change tactics and attempt to race closer.
Expect Patton (13) and El Rocco (7) to receive gun runs just in behind.
The two fancied runners, Forgot You (9) and Blackcomb (2), are likely to enjoy the good tempo racing back in the field before coming with a late rush.
The Favourite
Forgot You ($2.00) comes straight out of the Caulfield Guineas, where he stormed home to be only 2.95 lengths off the smart Anamoe.
The Guineas form looks strong and getting that close to a potential superstar says it all.
He is rock bottom odds, however looks to be very smart and could explode here.
Best Racing Tips
I'm with Blackcomb here at the price ($9.50), where he was a touch unlucky last start after being held up at Morphettville. He draws soft in gate 2 for this and should receive every chance sitting off the hot tempo.
Forgot You is all class and quality and if the breaks come for him after launching from gate 9, expect him to be in the finish. I'm not too sure what the bookies will look to do from here, however I suspect a few if them will be very keen to take him on late at the short price.
Antonio Giovanni comes via the Caulfield Classic, where he grinded away late. He finds Craig Williams here which is a significant upgrade and could be the "smokey" of this field.
The Price/Kent yard have Jungle Magnate entered. Expect him to roll forward and possibly find the top. Although the speed should be strong, he may relish a true staying test and be last man standing. Beware.
1st Blackcomb
2nd Frogot You
3rd Antonio Giovanni
4th Jungle Magnate
Race 8 Moonee Valley Gold Cup 2500m (SW+P)
The Map
Very simple map here.
Floating Artist (10) is likely to lead with ease and run them a merry dance.
Others that will also be handy include Starcaster (9), Secret Blaze (7) and Pondus (3).
Sound (12) and Miami Bound (11) should both find themselves well back and covered up for one run at them late.
The Favourite
Floating Artist is stacked with ability and should take control here from out in front.
He fought hard last start at Caulfield to only just go down, and that will have him cherry ripe for this.
Given any peace out in front, I doubt they can run him down.
Best Racing Tips
I'm with Floating Artist who is racing with great heart and is right up to the top-line horses.
He was very brave last start when placing 3 of 9 in the Coongy Cup after a tough on-speed run. Given any cheap sectionals here, he should be winning.
Pondus simply has the talent and did have market support late at Flemington last start. He is from the gun Team WiIlliams camp and will be expected to run well.
Miami Bound is a VRC Oaks winner, hence has a touch of class. On her day given the right run, she would be right in this. If they were to go mad up front, she could take advantage and drop on them late.
Starcaster has the talent and although he has a tendency to over-race from gate 9, they may be able to find clean air in the moving line which will suit. He looks big odds at the current $26.
1st Floating Artist
2nd Pondus
3rd Miami Bound
4th Starcaster
