Best bets from Rick Morris
Doomben Race 5 Tip #2 Makedon $3.60
This son of Real Saga hasn’t got the greatest winning strike rate, however returns to easier midweek company for the first time this campaign.
He did a bit of work in his previous run and was only gunned down late by the fast finishing Fortified.
In that same race, he beat Our Fraulein home and they lock horns once again here.
This Gary Duncan trained gelding's only two wins have been at this 1600m trip. I am pinning my hopes on the the fact he's fourth-up and should be ready to peak at his best distance.
Taylor Marshall will ride him for the third time and you can expect him to land Makedon in a handy position early.
Marshall can kick him clear in the straight and his rock hard fitness will stand him in good shape in the drive to the line.

Gosford Race 4 Tip #10 Cream Rises $5.00
This now 4YO gelding returns to the races after a 16 week spell.
As a 3YO he was very impressive, winning his first two races on the bounce.
In his debut run at this track he absolutely gapped his rivals when winning by 5 lengths.
He is very versatile being able to be settle midfield with cover, or take up a prominent forward position.
Drawing wide will give jockey Glen Boss no option but to push forward.
The Gosford 1200m consists of just the one turn, and it is a long looping bend.
As a result, any runners behind midfield often have to make early runs whilst deep, in an attempt to collar the front runners.
This will favour this gelding perfectly. With the light weight, look for Boss to make his move prior to the turn to get his opposition chasing.
It will be Boss' first time on board this galloper and as long as he can utilize this horse's ability, expect a big run at great odds.

Gosford Race 4 Tip #4 Quantico $3.10
Resuming off a spell and looks well placed here in what is not an overly strong race.
This lightly raced 5YO son of I Am Invincible has been trialling well leading into this first-up run, where he closed off strongly from the rear on both occasions.
James McDonald took the reins in his most recent trial at Randwick. On that occasion he came from last and powered home, albeit under a bit of riding, to narrowly finish second.
McDonald also has an impeccable record at Gosford, with his winning strike rate a massive 38.5% over his career.
He has a terrific fresh record of two wins and one placing from four first-up runs and he has carried this sort of weight to victory in the past.
A great example of this was at Newcastle two preparations back, winning first-up with 59.5kg on his back in a Class 1.
Should be hard to hold out

Gosford Race 1 Tip #7 Zelady Luck $7.50
This filly was huge on debut, producing a good rating while defeating subsequent City winner Mayrose.
Like all Waterhouse/Bott trained gallopers, she'll continue to improve as she rises in distance, so the step up to 1200m is ideal.
She's been given a tick over trial between runs, where she was too speedy for the highly touted Quantico.
She has great early toe, so barrier 1 at Gosford is perfect for her to rail up and hold the front.
Tim Clark jumps aboard and he knows every inch of this track, so he'll be sure to produce a well timed ride.
With natural progression and a perfect set up, this girl should take care of her rivals and looks huge value at the $7.50.
