Best bets on Golden Eagle Day

Rosehill Gardens plays host to Golden Eagle Day this Saturday, in what is set to be a huge day of racing across the country.

The feature race of the day is for the four-year-olds, who will fight it out for a huge $7.5 million purse.

The Redzel Stakes plays bridesmaid to the main event, but is arguably the most intriguing race of the day. It features Everest rivals Peirata and Trekking who will line-up against seven-runners from the Sydney Stakes, most notably Deprive and Champagne Cuddles.

With warm weather forecast in Sydney, the surface will be rated a Good 4 and the rail is in the true position.

At this set-up, the track should play fair and give all runners their chance in the run.

Rosehill Race 4 Tip #7 Beau Ideal $4.40

This former European galloper has improved in fitness at each run this prep and has found a very winnable race here.

He ran a narrow second in a Group Three in France on a Firm 2 mid-way through last year. This suggests that the drier the better for this gelding and he gets that here.

He ran a strong fourth over this track and distance second-up, finishing 0.8 lengths off the winner. His performance on that occasion indicated that the 1100m at Rosehill is right up his alley.

Look for him to be ridden beyond midfield with cover from barrier seven, with enough speed engaged to bring the back-markers into the race.

He was sent for a tick over trial at Warwick Farm last week, where he ran hard through the line under the firm hold of Josh Parr.

He looks to be flying and now at peak fitness, he's ready to win!

Rosehill Race 9 Tip #3 Outrageous $3.10

He was four-wide the entire trip in a BM88 first-up last start, but showed great fight to dig deep before going down by 0.3 lengths.

The runner-up from that race was Reelem In Ruby, who went on to run second in the Group Three Nivison last Saturday.

He now drops back to a BM78, draws a perfect barrier and with even luck he'll be able to right the wrongs of his last start effort.

There's little speed engaged in this race and with the 3kg claim, jockey Brock Ryan will be able to push forward and sit on-pace. From there, he'll be perfectly positioned to put his rivals away late.

He looks the best bet across the country and will no doubt be heavily backed in the get-out stakes!
