The JRA Plate is a 2000m race that typically sees staying types dropping back in distance and middle-distance runners stepping out beyond a mile for the first-time in their prep.
This year's race is no different, with early favourite Haripour stepping up from the 1600m at his third run this prep. Second-favourite Our Libretto stays at the 2000m coming off a strong win at Caulfield, while the well fancied Goathland, who is listed as an emergency, is dropping back from 2600m.
The speed-map suggests the Waterhouse/Bott trained Taikomochi will lead, but is unlikely to be afforded the same on-pace favours as last start.

Racing Market Movers
The smart money has come for the two Victorians. Our Libretto has been well backed from $7 into $5.50, as has Haripour from $6 into $5.
Key Runners
#2 Libran $10.00
Loves the track and distance with two wins from three starts over the 2000m at Randwick.
Was unsuited on the heavy last start and is sure to relish stepping out to a dry surface.
He's the class runner in the field and looks value at the $10.
#4 Sedanzer $12.00
Blinkers went on last start but failed to spark much of an improvement.
The rise in trip will allow her to sit much closer. She has won over 2200m so the distance is not a query.
She beat Libran home to run 7th in the Group One Metropolitan last prep, which suggests she can be competitive here.
#5 Haripour $6.00>$5.00
Has come back in good order and will relish the rise in distance.
The booking of Hugh Bowman is a positive sign for his chances and from the good draw he looks very hard to beat.
The early market is another solid sign that he is flying and I have him hard to beat. Yes!
#6 Taikomochi $13.00
Led them up in the Sellwood over 2000m, holding off Libran to the line.
He'll go forward again, but with more runners engaged in this race there is likely to be more pressure applied up front.
He's far from the worst and if there is any notable track bias to on-pace runners, he can't be left out of quaddie's and exotics.
#9 Our Libretto $7.00>$5.50
Was ultra-impressive last start when running down some quality types over 2000m at Caulfield.
Her late sectionals were very good and she rates right up to this level.
She's been well backed and you can expect her to run accordingly.
#10 I'm A Princess $13.00
Had every chance when running second in the Epona at Rosehill over 1900m.
Looks far better suited back to a good surface, but has drawn terribly in barrier 17.
Doesn't map well and looks well under the odds.
#12 The Lord Mayor $13.00
Was well placed to win at Toowoomba last start and has won three from five at the 2000m.
His run in last Spring's Metropolitan, when he was caught wide was full of merit and a repeat of that effort would see him go close here.
