20/10/21 Happy Valley Tips & best bets for today

We return to Happy Valley on Wednesday, with 9 races scheduled on the “C” course.

The weather will be nice and the ground will be good too.

The only cup race for the meeting comes in Race 6, the Longies Cup Class 3 over 1000m. Harmony N Blessed and Harmony Fire dominate the field with good recent form.

Two former New Zealand gallopers will also make their debut in this clash. They are Solid Impact (ex. Explosively) and Sergeant Pepper (ex. Able Hill).

 

 

Happy Valley Race 2 #2 Viva Popcorn $3.00

Viva Popcorn kicked off his second season in Hong Kong from a career lowest rating. However, he is still maturing and can bounce back this campaign.

In his recent two starts in Class 5 grade, he showed good turn foot to finish close. Those efforts showed that this small horse is able to run well in top weight.

Last time out over 1800m at Sha Tin, he went straight to the back of the field after jumping from gate 14.

Despite recording the fastest last 200m (22.65) of the race he could only finish fourth, 0.75 lengths behind winner Mister Monte.

Moving to Happy Valley for this clash is a good decision because his rivals are weaker.

Zac Purton takes the ride and I expect Viva Popcorn to break his maiden.

 

Happy Valley Race 4 #4 Great Harvest $3.90

Great Harvest commenced this season in similar fashion to how he performed last campaign, winning a Class 4 event over 1200m.

Alexis Badel steered him around this track that day, and he beat some handy types such as Stormtrooper and Happy Gathering in the process.

His second-up performance 5 of 11 was forgivable, given he stayed wide without cover for most of the time after jumping from gate 12.

He draws closer in barrier 5 for this clash and with Alexis Badel on board again, I expect him to make it two victories from three starts this preparation.
