Today's best bets will take place at Happy Valley, where we have 9 races scheduled for our 88th meeting of the season.

Meanwhile Caspar Fownes has claimed his fourth top trainer gong, adding to the titles he won in 2007, 2009 and 2014.

The feature races for tonight's meeting are the two Class 2 races in Race 8 and 9, which showcase some up and coming youngsters who are fighting for their final win of the season.

 

 

Happy Valley Race 3 Tip #3 Ice Legend $3.50

This Caspar Fownes trained 4YO will be ridden by Joao Moreira, which is this season's champion combination.

Ice Legend has had impressive results recently and is well suited at the Valley over this distance.

He'll receive the blinkers for the first time in this clash, which will enhance his gate speed and you can expect him to lead from gate 8.

He has produced some strong gallops leading into this race and is now at peak fitness and ready to win.

 

Happy Valley Race 9 Tip #11 War Weapon $6.00

War Weapon is also trained by Caspar Fownes and will be ridden by Karis Teetan.

It is his first time racing at the city circuit, however he has had a Happy Valley barrier trial and handled the track well.

Last time out was a complete forgive run, given he found the 1400m too far.

Returning to 1200m, moving to Happy Valley and jumping from gate 1 are positive form factors for this horse.

I expect him to show a good turn of foot tonight and break his maiden in the final event.
