Randwick hosts another cracking day of Group 1 racing as the sun goes down on a wet, but eventful Autumn Carnival.

The All Aged Stakes takes centre stge with a full field of 14 fight it out under weight for age conditions.

Golden Slipper winner Fireburn lines up a $1.50 favourite in the Champagne Stakes and chasing the elusive 2YO Triple Crown.

If she is successful, she'll become the second filly in history, since Burst in 1992, to complete this monumental task.

Track Conditions

With fine weather about in the lead up, the track looks likely to be rated a Soft 7 or Heavy 8.

The rail is out 8m from the 1600m to the winning post and 5m the remainder.

At this set up, the track is likely to play fair, but punters should keep a keen eye on the first two races as a guide.

Randwick Race 4 - Champagne Stakes (1600m)

The Map Speed Map

  • Williamsburg (6) is on the 7-day back-up and has drawn perfectly to build revs and cross to the lead
  • Wealth Investor (1) can hold his spot and land leaders back with minimal fuss
  • Letsrollthedice (4) and Counttheheadlights (5) wil likely settle midfield side by side
  • Fireburn (2) is likely to land three pairs back the fence with She's Extreme (6) to her outside

The Early Favourite - Fireburn $1.50

Looks set for her own piece of Australian Racing history.

She's been dominant at her last two starts and with even luck, she should be winning.

Fireburn

Williamsburg is the value play at $8.

He brings different formlines, is proven at the 1600m and is as gutsy as they come.

We'll need a bold ride from Kerrin McEvoy, but this tough conveyance may be the one to break Fireburn's heart.

Fireburn is a classy galloper who has the runs on the board.

There's no reason to suggest she won't improve on a drier surface, but at $1.50, I'll bet around her.

She's Extreme had every possible chance in beating Fireburn last start.

It's hard to see her turning the tables this time around. Clear 3rd pick.

  1. Williamsburg
  2. Fireburn
  3. She's Extreme

Randwick Race 8 - All Aged Stakes (1400m)

The Map Speed Map

  • In The Congo (10) will be marked urgent and should find the front
  • Ellsberg (7) is another who will go forward to set up a strong tempo
  • Forbidden Love (16) has her work cut out from the wide draw, but will push forward and hope to slot in
  • Of the others, Overpass (4) & Mounga (9) map for soft runs

The Early Favourite - In The Congo $5.50

Won the Golden Rose over 1400m last Spring, defeating none other than Anamoe.

He was given an easy time of it last week, which will have him set to peak here.

The drier the track, the further his stocks rise.

In The Congo will relish the high pressure racing.

Tim Clark jumps back aboard, and I suspect it will be handle bars down and catch me if you can.

His best is better than these and if we can land on a Soft 7 track, he'll be suited down to the ground.

Cascadian is a classy conveyance who is suited at WFA.

He gains the services of James McDoanld and could well get the dream run if the gaps open on straightening.

He is another who is suited on a Soft 7, so let's hope the track continues to dry out.

A proper Group 1 WFA horse, who finds a winnable race.

Forbidden Love has gone to a new peak this prep.

1400m is her go, but barrier 16 is less than ideal.

The wetter the better for her. She'll give a big sight.

  1. In The Congo
  2. Cascadian
  3. Forbidden Love
