Cranbourne plays host to one of its feature race days of the year, with the running of the Cranbourne Cup at Listed level.

The track is currently rated a Soft 6 as of Thursday and with more rain predicted, you can expect us to be racing on a heavy surface.

The rail is situated true between the 1600m-1000m mark, and out 3m for the remainder of the circuit.

At this set-up, expect horses to perform best out wider on the course.

Cranbourne Race 4 #4 Our Lone Star $4.80

Keen to take the price about Our Lone Star here, who ran right up to his odds at Bendigo when resuming over the 1300m.

He settled midfield and finished off through the line nicely that day, and that was off the back of two good trials leading in which indicated he has returned in good order.

His only previous second-up performance was a minor placing at Wodonga in very similar wet conditions he'll encounter here.

The step up to 1500m is equally beneficial, considering his two wins and best rating performances have come over this longer trip.

He's proven to run well in the wet, including a Tatura trial win on a Soft 7 back in October.

He maps very well just a touch wider on the course and on pure ratings, he is an outright favourite for me.

Cranbourne Race 6 #4 Bless Her $3.70

An interesting runner here is Bless Her, who has had three starts this prep for mixed results.

Her first two runs in the prep were bolters. She finished a narrow second behind Esta La Roca at big odds when resuming, and a then recorded a very gallant Listed placing at Caulfield on a wet track.

She then ran in the Group 3 Begonia Belle at Flemington last start, and dropped out to finish next to last beaten almost 8 lengths.

I can put that failure down to a few things though, including the unsuitable very firm Good 3 surface and the fact it was down the straight .

Her best rating runs are around a bend, and that last start failure meant her Flemington straight record now reads 3:0-0-0.

She will get her desired heavy track here where she's unbeaten from two starts, and maps very well from barrier four back around a turn.

The ratings of her previous two starts this prep have her a mile in front of this field and if she is able to bounce back, I'm tipping she wins this very easily.

I have her marked at $2.50 on my ratings.
